The responsibility and opportunity Frontier College offers volunteers

You do not need teaching experience to be a Frontier College tutor. We believe everyone can help other people improve their literacy or English language skills. If you are accepted as a Frontier College volunteer, we will train you to be a tutor. We will also provide support and resources for you during your tutoring.

Frontier College tutors should:

  • Be committed. We ask tutors to volunteer for a minimum of six months once they have been trained.
  • Have time available for volunteering. Tutoring sessions usually take place once a week and last two to three hours. It is important to attend tutoring sessions consistently.
  • Be open to a variety of people and new experiences
  • Have English or French language skills
  • Be enthusiastic, patient, flexible and creative
