Evaluation and next steps
Training objectives of module:
- To review key points discussed during workshop
- To determine if the strategies and
techniques presented during the
workshop were effective
Time: 15 minutes
Materials:
- Evaluation Form (Appendix H)
Background
Revise the evaluation form in Appendix H to fit your agenda. The first page of this form measures how well the training was facilitated. The second page of this form measures if the strategies and techniques were effectively presented during the workshop.
Step One – Review
- Review the agenda to remind tutors what was covered, and the questions they raised. Ensure that these questions were answered. Ask tutors if they have any remaining questions or suggestions to share with the group. There may be some questions that need to be addressed later or resources that you can recommend.
- Review A Tutor’s Guide: Reading and Writing with Children and Youth. Refer them to the sections that contain relevant information for your program so they are more likely to refer to this guide later.
- Reinforce key points discussed during the workshop.
Step Two – Discuss next steps
Review the next steps for your program. Point out the dates for important homework club events e.g., program launch, follow‐up training, holidays, etc. Remind tutors that they must complete the volunteer screening process before they can start tutoring.
Step Three – Evaluation
Collect feedback from the tutors about the workshop. You can either
- ask each to tutor to complete an evaluation form
- divide them into small groups to complete the evaluation
- ask them key questions about the content as a group – then ask them to give anonymous feedback using a form
Thank tutors for coming and wish them a successful tutoring experience
