Literacy Programs in Montreal, Quebec

Frontier College is Canada's original literacy organization. In Montreal, we recruit volunteers to work with learners in the following literacy programs. We screen and train all of our volunteers before they go into the community. Reading Circles

Frontier College runs weekly Reading Circles both in French and English with the following partner organizations: le Relais Côte-des-Neiges, le Service d'interprète, d'aide et de référence aux immigrants (SIARI), Résidence du Y, le Centre Communautaire Ste-Catherine d’Alexandrie (CCLSCA), les Enfants de l’espoir, Kouzin Kouzin', Jamaica Association and Residence Projet Chance.

Homework Clubs

Every week, our trained tutors help children and youth to do their homework in our French and English after school homework clubs held in the following centres : les Créations Etc./Projet d’intervention Rousselot, le Baobab familial, le Relais Côte-des-Neiges, le Service d'interprète, d'aide et de référence aux immigrants (SIARI), le Centre d’entraide et de ralliement familial (CERF), les Enfants de l’espoir, les Habitations Jeanne-Mance (FEEJAD), Kouzin Kouzin, Hoopster Academy, Residence Project Chance and DJ Sports Club.

One-to-one Tutoring with Youth and Adults

Our Montreal tutors also work one-to-one with adults and youth who wish to improve their literacy skills in French or in English or they help newcomers with their French as a Second Language (FSL) skills.

Small Group Tutoring with Youth and Adults

Frontier College volunteers also tutor small groups of individuals (youth or adults) either in French or in English in the following organizations: Les Petites Mains, Afrique au féminin, le Relais Côte-des-Neiges, la Résidence du Y, le Centre des travailleurs immigrants (CTI), le Centre communautaire Ste-Catherine d’Alexandrie (CCLSA), le Centre de lecture et d’écriture (CLÉ), les Habitations Jeanne-Mance (CREP), DESTA, Jamaica Association, Pearson Adult Carrer Center and Mountainview School.
