Connecting Communities World Café: Halifax, NS

International Adult Learners’ Week (IALW) : April 2-9, 2011 will celebrate all adult learners across Canada and the joy of learning for life.

Throughout the week, adult learning and literacy organizations will organize events and festivals to advocate for and raise the profile of adult learners and lifelong learning, mobilize individuals to take advantage of the multitude of learning opportunities open to them and serve as a reminder that adult learning can be a powerful instrument for change.

IALW was officially launched by UNESCO on September 8, 2000 and has been celebrated in Canada since 2002. The pioneers of Adult Learners’ Week understood that the most effective way to underscore the importance of lifelong learning was to give adult learners themselves the chance to express their views, describe their challenges, and document their success stories.

Each year, the event brings an increased partner participation and greater outreach to a wider variety of groups.

Frontier College invites you to share your learning stories by downloading this postcard and answering the question: How does learning inspire you to participate in your community?
