Literacy Programs in Hamilton, Ontario

Frontier College is Canada's original literacy organization. In Hamilton, we recruit volunteers to work with learners in the following literacy programs. We screen and train all of our volunteers before they go into the community. One-to-One Tutoring with Youth

Tutors are matched one-to-one with youth who are involved with the Hamilton Children's Aid Society.

Reading Circles

Weekly Reading Circles and a Gaming & Literacy program for school-aged children is held at Norman Pinky Lewis Community Centre.

Homework Clubs

Homework Club programs are run through the Hamilton Public Library and Dr. J. Edgar Davey Elementary School.

Small Group Tutoring with Children and Youth

Volunteers work with elementary school children at Cathy Wever School and Queen Victoria School. Groups of volunteers work with youth at Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School and Student Alternative Learning (SAL).
