To mark its 90th anniversary year, Canadian book publisher Scholastic is launching a global campaign, "READ. By All Means," to underscore the importance of reading for all children. According to Dick Robinson, Chairman and CEO, Scholastic Inc., "As we begin the second decade of the 21st Century – and for Scholastic, the run up to our 100th birthday ─ we are looking forward rather than back, recognizing that the children learning to read today will be the parents and the citizens of the world in 2050. More and better reading will mean a better world for these children and for our future society." At the heart of the campaign is Scholastic's "Reading Bill of Rights."
Frontier College is proud to be listed as a Literacy Champion as part of the of the "READ. By All Means." campaign. Scholastic has been a huge supporter of Frontier College's Free Books Program for many years. In 2009-2010 alone, Frontier College distributed approximately 40,000 free books to children, youth and families living on low-income, marginalized and isolated communities across Canada.
