The Continuing Education Department offers literacy and/or numeracy tutoring programs in an after school setting during the regular school year. This program provides students in grades 7 to 11 with after school tutoring programs in literacy and/or numeracy. The focus of the program is on developing skills and concepts to help students at risk succeed in the regular day school classroom. Please contact your child’s school for more information.
Continuing Education also offers remedial literacy, numeracy and English as a Second Language summer school programs to students in grades 7 and 8. These classes are designed for students who are achieving at Level 2 or below (a C or less on the March report card). Classes run during the month of July 2009. Class time is from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Classes focus on skills and concepts in literacy and/or numeracy that will be beneficial to students at the next grade level. There are several programs that are being offered that address specific student needs including Math In Action; Step on Stage which is a drama program; Literacy and ESL programs.
