MANITOBA FUNDS SUMMER LEARNING

The Province of Manitoba has announced it will give $160,000 to fund Frontier College Summer Literacy Camp programs in 10 Indigenous communities over three years. These programs help curb summer learning loss and build confidence and skills so children return to school petter prepared for the year ahead.

In 1920, Jessie Lucas became secretary-treasurer of Frontier College and remained in that position for 43 years. Along with a handful of female Labourer-Teachers, Ms. Lucas was one of the first women hired at the College.
