Volunteer Appreciation Week

Frontier College Guelph would like to celebrate their amazing volunteers for their dedication to our literacy programs in our community. Our programs are successful thanks to the hard work of our volunteers!

Each week our volunteers donate their time to our numerous literacy programs throughout the Guelph community. Last week was the final week of programs for Guelph, however the impact on our learners lasts all year long!

Volunteers gain valuable life and leadership skills at programs while bringing joy to learning and literacy!

"Through my experience at Frontier College, I have encountered many situations assisting and teaching students, through them I have learnt how to become an effective educator and leader. I will continue to use the invaluable skills I have gained through volunteering with Frontier College in future situations. I intend to continue to volunteer my time with Frontier College to give back to the community of Guelph and help the organization on their mission to promote literacy and build a safe learning environment for participants," says Zion, a volunteer tutor.

The impact on young learners stems beyond academic achievement; it affects their confidence to seize opportunities in life and establishes the foundation for life-long success.

"I enjoyed working with Zion this year because he always listened to what I had to say and I felt comfortable talking to him. He has helped me with assignments but most importantly, helped me gain confidence in reading out loud. The class enjoyed when Zion ran small activities and taught the class small lessons," says a learner from one of our programs.

Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers this academic year for helping shape the lives of young learners in the Guelph community! We are proud to have such dedicated and passionate volunteers helping shape the landscape of literacy in our community!
