Frontier College Guelph is proud to recognize Taha as our volunteer of the month for March 2019!
Taha began his Frontier College journey in 2016 with the Guelph Exploration Club. In partnership with the Mezeen School of Guelph and the Guelph Neighbourhood Coalition, this 5 day summer camp program runs for refugee and Arabic speaking children, grades 1-8. This literacy and mental wellness club aims to welcome and support children by helping them to prepare for the school year, promote a love of reading and learning, and increase their self-confidence.
In the fall of 2017, Taha began volunteering weekly with the Guelph Number Ninjas program. Number Ninjas is a weekly after school program designed to incorporate math with games, puzzles, and activities so that learning math is fun for students.
“Taha has never missed a single day. He always comes on time, he is punctual and even drives many of the volunteers from the university to the school,” says Talha, one of the Organizational Team Leads for Number Ninjas.
"Taha is extremely passionate about the program, always shows up to the program with a great attitude and a smile on his face," says Talha.
Best of all the kids love him.
"My favorite part about the Number Ninjas program is being able to hang out with Taha, the volunteer, because he is helpful and awesome!" says Hailey, one of the learners at the Number Ninjas program.
And the feeling is mutual.
“I really enjoyed my experience with Number Ninjas this year. What I love most is making connections with the students and watching them improve over the course of the year,” says Taha.
Taha’s continued dedication to Frontier College and Number Ninjas Guelph over the years has fostered memorable relationships with the learners and the community. He stands out as an exemplary volunteer and role model for the children.
Thank you, Taha, for your genuine compassion for the learners and Frontier College!
