Spring Term Programs

Spring programs are starting in May and we are so excited to get started! Here is a list of all our programs running:

‘Not Just’ Homework Club
Wednesdays 4:15-5:30pm
Running May 15 - June 12 
Open to children from kindergarten to grade 8. Tutors work one on one with learners to help them with homework then a fun writing activity or learning game.

High School Homework Club
Wednesdays 2:20 – 4:30pm
Ongoing until June 19
This drop in program offers opportunities for students to get help with high school level course work

YMCA Family Language & Learning
Wednesdays 5:00 – 6:45pm
Ongoing until June 19
Working with immigrant and newcomer children to facilitate social development and promote literacy ESL support and homework help

SCAWR Homework Program
Tuesdays or Thursdays 6:15 – 8:15pm
Ongoing until June 18/20
Developed to address the needs of grade 1-12 newcomer and refugee children from East Africa and immigrants in Waterloo region, volunteers work in small groups, helping with math, science, reading and writing.

Number Ninjas
Tuesdays 6:30 – 7:45pm
Running May 14-June 18
Kids in grades 1-6 learn to explore math concepts in everyday life through fun games and activities. Sessions start with a group activity then break off into one to one or small group with math puzzles and activities

Reading Buddies
Saturdays 2:00 – 3:15pm
Running May 25-June 15
The reading circle’s main goal is to establish better literacy and social skills and to make reading an enjoyable experience for children grades 1-3. Volunteers work with learners one-on-one or small groups, reading together then playing a fun, educational game
