Since 1912, Frontier College in Quebec has been actively running literacy programs for children, youth, and adults in Sherbrooke, Quebec City, Montreal, and Northern Quebec. Our goal is simple: offer accessible programming to individuals where learning resources and supports are rare and/or inexistent. We thus work in high needs areas and with marginalized populations with the aim to give people the skills and confidence they need to reach their full potential in today’s society.
In order to reduce the incidence of low literacy skills among Quebec residents, and thereby contribute to their success in school, the workplace and within the wider community, Frontier College has developed a range of initiatives:
- Tutoring programs for children and youth
- French second language (FSL) courses, essential skills development and upgrading programs for adults
- Leadership development opportunities for youth: volunteer tutoring, contract and summer positions, internship opportunities.
- Literacy supports and resources for other organizations (trainings, seminars and sharing of expertise).
Our regional office is located at 4384 Saint-Laurent Boulevard, Suite 100, Montreal, QC H2W 1Z5
